This week, our CEO Christian Byhmer and Chairman Mikael Odenberg travelled to Riga to meet with key stakeholders in energy infrastructure across Latvia and the broader Baltic region.
During the visit, we met with the Latvian Ministry of Economics to discuss Byhmgard's investment plans and the role of large-scale battery storage in Latvia's ongoing energy transition, as well as Swedish Ambassador Daniel Olsson and First Secretary Hugo Qvinth at the Embassy of Sweden in Riga, where the Ambassador expressed strong support for Byhmgard's expansion in Latvia.
Few people are better placed than Mikael to read the strategic context. Over the past two decades, first as Sweden's Minister of Defence and later as Director General of Svenska kraftnät, he was responsible for the NordBalt interconnector and helped shape Baltic energy infrastructure. Having him as an engaged chairman is something that moves us forward.
As Mikael put it: "Byhmgard can contribute to Latvian energy security, facilitating frequency management and supporting an effective energy transition." Few people speak to that with more credibility.
For a Swedish company building long-term energy infrastructure in the Baltics, having that level of engagement from both sides is exactly the foundation serious expansion is built on.
